Funny Valentine

I love to decorate and after shopping for Valentine's Day decor I became extremely frustrated. For the most part it was gaudy and over priced. Even at Ross I found myself thinking, "I can make that. So much cuter and cheaper..."

So I talked my mom into coming over and "playing" for the afternoon. I like to think I get my creativity from her. She is an artist and has dabbled in it all. For a while she worked for a well known art magazine and did some of their art lay outs. I love when I can get her to come over and help me put together my ideas.

Here is what we did today:

1. Vintage Valentine Banner- made from Dover post cards (4.95 for the book of them!), brads, ribbon and mini roses

2. Valentine Day Cards- One for each one of my kids.

Trynnity's: card stock, bird stamp w/ color
box chalk in warm red ink, ribbon and gold hot wax with heart stamp.
Baylee's: card stock, chip board Love
Prestton's: card stock and black inked stamps

Devynn's: card stock, black inked love stamp across the bottom,
flower petals, brad, and beaded love word.

3. Tags Living room lamp
Hallway lamp

4. Blocks- I saw this at Ross and it was so tacky! This is my version... I found the wood blocks at Michael's for $1 each. Lightly sanded and painted cream. Next I took black rub ons and covered portions of the blocks. Last I added the L.O.V.E. from a simply spoken pack. I sprayed it with a light varnish.
5. Heart in a Frame- this one was my favorite. I already had the frame. it came from the dollar store. I cut out a piece of cardboard and sprayed it with adhesive. Next I poured beads over the heart and let it sit for about 30 minutes. I then tapped off the extra beads and hot glued to a piece of white card stock.
It was so much fun! And now I am ready for our Valentine's Day!!!
